Job Safety Analysis

This National Safety Council course offers a proven process for controlling operating hazards and costs. You’ll learn how to develop and manage a JSA program and gain a better understanding of your role in making it effective.
Length: Full day

Through discussions, demonstrations and exercises, you’ll learn how to dissect processes in your operation and eliminate or reduce hazards inherent with these processes. You’ll also learn how to enlist participation from frontline employees, supervisors and upper management. The result: efficient procedures that help reduce personal injuries and operating costs.

What you will learn:
  • How to recognize and use important safety and health terminology
  • JSA's relation to continuous improvement in your organization
  • How to identify and communicate the safety and financial benefits of using JSA
  • The key requirements for a successful JSA
  • How to recognize hazards inherent in task performance and develop solutions and hazard controls
  • How to complete a JSA form

  • Continuing Education Units: Attend this course and earn .65 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from the Minnesota Safety Council.

    Location:
    This course will be held at the Minnesota Safety Council Resource Center located at 474 Concordia Avenue in St. Paul. Take the Dale Street exit from I-94. Proceed east on south frontage road (Concordia Avenue) past the American Lung Association. Turn right into our lower level parking lot.

    Lodging:
    Holiday Inn St. Paul Downtown, 175 West 7th Street in St. Paul. Reservations can be made directly by calling 651-225-1515 or booking online, single or double occupancy. Please make reservations directly with the hotel and be sure to identify yourself as a participant in a Minnesota Safety Council training course to receive the preferred rate.

    Cancellation Policy:
    Pre-registration and payment are required. Hopefully you won't need to cancel, but if you do, please do so at least three business days prior to the course for a full refund. No refunds will be made after three business days prior to the course. This policy will be enforced, so please plan ahead if you need to cancel your attendance.

    Terry S. Larson, GSP is a lifelong resident of Minnesota. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety from Waldorf University. Prior to coming to the Minnesota Safety Council, Terry worked in the general industry field as well as the Minnesota Army National Guard. In these roles he helped to reduce the risk of injury and illness for workers. Terry’s passion lies in collaborating across boundaries to find common ground in delivering safety education and training programs to create the safest possible work area.
