Silica Awareness

Millions of workers in both construction and general industry are exposed to respirable crystalline silica in their working environments and many are at levels that exceed safe exposure limits. OSHA has issued new standards for both general industry and construction to protect workers from this ever-increasing hazard. This class covers the requirements of the new standards and what we as employers and safety professionals need to know to achieve compliance and protect workers.

David Abrams is the president and founder of ARS Environmental Health, Inc., an industrial hygiene consulting firm. He earned an MSPH in Industrial Hygiene from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health and a B.Sc. from the University of Connecticut in the later parts of the last century.

David has served as President of the American Industrial Hygiene Foundation, the Upper Midwest Local Section of the AIHA, and the Northwest Chapter of the ASSE. He serves on several steering committees at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.

David has served as an instructor in respiratory protection, 40-hour HAZWOPER and Emergency Response, 8-hour Refresher Courses, and other topics of occupational safety and health at the Minnesota Safety Council, the NIOSH Funded programs at the Universities of North Carolina, Minnesota, Washington Schools of Public Health Educational Resource Centers and many corporate clients.
