Silica Awareness

Millions of workers in both construction and general industry are exposed to respirable crystalline silica in their working environments and many are at levels that exceed safe exposure limits. OSHA has issued new standards for both general industry and construction to protect workers from this ever-increasing hazard. This class covers the requirements of the new standards and what we as employers and safety professionals need to know to achieve compliance and protect workers.

Ben Wood, JD, MS, CSP    
Ben has been a safety and health professional since 1994, where he practiced in private industry until he began his service with MN OSHA as a Safety Investigator in 2010, providing enforcement and compliance services in both construction and general industry. Ben was subsequently promoted into MN OSHA Workplace Safety Consultation as a Safety Consultant Principal, and has provided training and outreach services for hundreds of establishments and worksites. Ben received a graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stout in Risk Control and a Juris Doctorate degree from William Mitchell College of Law, and currently serves as both an adjunct professor and a member of the Advisory Committee for the Risk Control Program at the University of Wisconsin – Stout. Ben and his family currently reside in Lakeville, MN.
