Sample Conceal and Carry Policy
NO WEAPONS IN THE WORKPLACE
______________________ (the "Employer") believes it is important to establish a clear policy that specifically addresses weapons in the workplace.
Employer's Policy prohibits all persons (including employees, customers, or other visitors) from carrying a Prohibited Weapon of any kind onto Employer Property regardless whether the person is licensed to carry the weapon or not. Employees are further prohibited from carrying a Prohibited Weapon (i) while performing any task on Employer's behalf, or (ii) in any vehicle which is owned or leased by the Employer, or (iii) at function such as a company party or picnic which is sponsored by the Employer, whether the employee is on Employer Property at the time or not, and whether the employee is licensed to carry the weapon or not.
The only exceptions to this Policy will be persons who have been given written authorization by ______________________________.
Prohibited Weapons include any form of firearm, explosive device, knife with a blade that exceeds 4" in length, or any other device that is generally considered to be a weapon. Chemical dispensing devices such as pepper sprays that are sold commercially for personal protection, and which are legal for persons to possess, are not covered by this Policy, should be directed to the __________________ of Employer's Human Resources Department.
"Employer Property" covered by this policy includes, without limitation, all land and buildings (including parking areas) owned or leased by the Employer.
Failure by and employee to abide by all terms and conditions of this policy may result in discipline up to and including terminations of employment. Bringing a Prohibited Weapon onto Employer Property in violation of this Policy will be considered an act of trespass and will be grounds for immediate removal from Employer Property, and may result in criminal prosecution.
If you become aware or have reason to believe that someone is violating this Policy, please report it to the ___________________ of Employer's Human Resources Department immediately.
THIS POLICY SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED TO CREATE ANY DUTY OR OBLIGATION ON THE PART OF THE EMPLOYER TO TAKE ANY ACTIONS BEYOND THOSE REQUIRED OF AN EMPLOYER BY EXISTING LAW.
