Trainer Courses with MSC
Looking for a “Train-the-Trainer” Course? Those classes have a new name!
The Minnesota Safety Council no longer uses the term “Train-the-Trainer.” We found that this term can be misleading.
Many organizations use “Train-the-Trainer” to suggest that a class makes someone a fully qualified trainer. OSHA does not recognize or endorse any type of trainer certification. Instead, OSHA places the responsibility on employers to ensure their trainers are qualified based on their experience, education, training, and skills. Employers must also ensure training reflects their own equipment, procedures, and working conditions and meets all regulatory and industry requirements.
To better describe what these classes actually provide, MSC now refers to them as “Fundamentals for the Trainer.” These courses help trainers, managers, supervisors, and safety professionals strengthen their understanding of the technical, operational, and regulatory aspects of a topic. This knowledge supports more effective training within their organizations.
These courses do not focus on presentation, facilitation, or coaching skills. For those topics, we offer separate courses specifically designed to teach training methods and techniques.
