Identifying Your Safety Culture

Safety culture CAN be measured! Join us for this in-depth look at your current safety culture and take away ideas to move your culture in a positive direction. Attendees will learn the fundamental pillars of a successful safety culture and how to recognize them in day-to-day operations. Class exercises offer the chance to explore standards of practice, motivation theories, and methods to implement a positive safety culture. Best of all, participants will evaluate their company’s current safety culture using standard scoring models and methodology.

  • Identify the pillars of a strong health and safety culture.
  • Identify the day-to-day signs of safety culture.
  • Assess and score their company’s current health and safety culture.
  • Identify two ways to improve or support the organization to enhance a positive safety culture.
  • Develop a written audit protocol for their company.
  • Identify management system checklists and scorecards for auditing.
  • Score their current safety program or management system, as well as their current safety culture.

Who Should Attend? This course is suitable for health and safety managers or safety committee members who have at least 5 years of experience managing a safety program or safety management system.

Location: This course will be held at the Minnesota Safety Council Resource Center located at 474 Concordia Avenue in St. Paul. Take the Dale Street exit from I-94. Proceed east on south frontage road (Concordia Avenue) past the American Lung Association. Turn right into our lower level parking lot.

Lodging: Holiday Inn St. Paul Downtown, 175 West 7th Street in St. Paul. Reservations can be made directly by calling 651.225.1515 or booking online, single or double occupancy. Please make reservations directly with the hotel and be sure to identify yourself as a participant in a Minnesota Safety Council training course to receive the preferred rate.

Cancellation Policy: Pre-registration and payment are required. Hopefully you won't need to cancel, but if you do, please do so at least three business days prior to the course for a full refund. No refunds will be made after three business days prior to the course. This policy will be enforced, so please plan ahead if you need to cancel your attendance.
