Defensive Driving for the Professional Truck Driver

This class is recommended for all professional motor vehicle drivers. Lessons learned from crashes involving commercial vehicles and factors that influence them will be discussed.

Length: 3 hours

• Texting and cell phone use
• Aggressive driving/road rage
• Nighttime driving
• Severe weather driving
• Target fixation and tunneling
• Disciplined attention (how to improve your driving skills with your eyes)
• Criminal civil and administrative repercussions that may result for CMV crashes
• Backing and parking
• Lane change and use of mirrors

Location: This course will be held at the Minnesota Safety Council Resource Center located at 474 Concordia Avenue in St. Paul. Take the Dale Street exit from I-94. Proceed east on south frontage road (Concordia Avenue) past the American Lung Association. Turn right into our lower level parking lot.

Please make reservations directly with the hotel and be sure to identify yourself as a participant in a Minnesota Safety Council training course to receive the preferred rate.

Cancellation Policy: Pre-registration and payment are required. Hopefully you won't need to cancel, but if you do, please do so at least three business days prior to the course for a full refund. No refunds will be made after three business days prior to the course. This policy will be enforced, so please plan ahead if you need to cancel your attendance.
