Minnesota Operation Lifesaver Annual Report, 2007
The Minnesota State Operation Lifesaver Program (MNOL, Inc. ) operates through the Minnesota Safety Council, a 501 (c) (3) organization. Contributing partners include BNSF Railway, Canadian Pacific Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad, Operation Lifesaver Inc., CSX Corporation, Canadian National Railroad, Twin Cities & Western Railroad, and the Minnesota Safety Council.
In 2007, MNOL Presenters provided 387 presentations educating a total of 8224 participants on the lifesaving message of highway-rail grade crossing safety. Presentations were provided to students K thru grade 8; high school and adult driver’s education classes; school bus drivers; trucker; law enforcement; fire fighters and various civic groups and clubs. In addition, MNOL presenters participated in 101 special events held at various locations including law enforcement conferences, county fairs, community events, safety camps, and colleges reaching more than 28, 500 additional individuals. Special grade crossing collision investigation (GCCI) training was also conducted, reaching 151 participants.
During the past year, 21 presenters gave four or more presentations and 3 new Presenter Training Classes were held. A total of 25 new presenters and 1 new associate were certified and 25 presenters left the MNOL program for reasons unknown.
