Join the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, the Minnesota Network of Employers for Traffic Safety, law enforcement agencies and other businesses throughout the state in the effort to prevent the
human and economic losses caused by impaired driving. Participate in the "Drunk Driving. Over the
Limit. Under Arrest." campaign August 17 - September 3, a combination of enforcement and public
awareness activities. Among the steps you can take:
Did you Know?
- In Minnesota traffic crashes are the leading cause of death through age 34 and the
leading cause of workplace death.
- From 2004 to 2006, Minnesota averaged 540 traffic deaths per year—180 (33
percent) per year were impaired-driving related.
- In 2006, a record high of 41,842 DWI arrest were made.
- Of all Minnesota residents, 493,059 have a DWI on record, 209,056 (one in 19) have
two or more arrests; 97,729 (one in 40) have three or more.
