Spring is here (finally!) and we are blooming with training opportunities!

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE TRAINING
  • May 11, Effective Safety Committees. Minnesota Statute 176.232 requires businesses with more than 25 employees to establish a joint labor-management safety committee. Learn how to involve people and motivate your safety committee.
  • May 11-13, Emergency Response Initial Training (24-hour). Meets the initial training requirements of 1910.120 for hazardous materials technicians and specialists, and on-scene incident commanders.
  • May 14, Fire Protection Compliance Training. Classroom and hands-on training in fire extinguisher use. A mobile fire extinguisher training unit will be used for the hands-on training.
  • May 14, Hazards of Confined Space Entry II. The hands-on aspects of confined space will be emphasized, using a mobile training unit.
  • May 25, Asbestos Awareness for Custodians. The revised OSHA asbestos standard requires two-hour awareness training for custodial workers.
  • May 25, Asbestos Refresher. Learn approved asbestos handling techniques and make sure you're operating safely and legally as required in the OSHA asbestos standard.
  • May 26-27, OSHA 10-hour Program for Construction. Many companies are requiring outside contractors to have completed the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Course before performing work on-site. The OSHA Training Institute will issue course completion cards.
  • May 27, Right-to-Know Workshop II. Get practical ideas on how to keep your right-to-know program up to date and in compliance.
  • June 1, AWAIR Workshop. Learn the purpose and elements of the AWAIR Act and how to develop or improve and manage your programs.
  • June 2, Accident Investigation and Job Hazard Analysis. Accident investigation and hazard identification are key elements of the AWAIR Act. Learn how to identify and control hazards and investigate accidents to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
  • June 2, Fork Truck Instructor Development Training. OSHA's General Industry Standard 1910.178 requires that fork truck operators be trained. Learn safe operation, safe driving procedures and the skills to conduct training.
  • June 3, OSHA Recordkeeping (Log 300 and 301 Training). Learn the requirements and mechanics of recordkeeping, OSHA forms 300 and 301 and Bureau of Labor Statistics surveys.
  • June 3, Personal Protective Equipment. Learn how to comply with the revised OSHA standards on personal protective equipment, including conducting needs assessments and training.
  • June 8-9, Electrical Safe Work Practices Training. Meets OSHA required training on electrical safe work practices AND is taught by the legend in electrical safety, Art Hawes. This is Art's last visit to Minnesota until fall, so come learn from the best!
  • June 10, Lockout/Tagout Workshop. Assists in complying with OSHA Standard 1910.147.
CERTIFICATE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
  • May 12-13, 10-Hour General Industry Safety and Health Training. Covers specific OSHA standards and compliance regulations for general industry. OSHA Training Institute will issue course completion cards.
  • May 18-20, OHST Examination Preparation Workshop. Prepares you for the Occupational Health and Safety Technologist Examination. OHST is a joint certification between the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, designed for those who have duties involving safety, health and environmental matters, but whose job requirements do not include all the responsibilities of a CSP or CIH.
  • June 7-10, Safety Management Techniques. If you have a good background in accident prevention and you want to improve your management skills this is the course for you! Part of the National Safety Council Advanced Safety Certificate.
  • June 14-17, OSHA 501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health for General Industry (30 Hours). Allows you to conduct both a 10- and 30-hour voluntary compliance course and issue course completion cards to participants. Prerequisite: OSHA 511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry OR 5 years experience and instructor permission.
  • June 21-25, Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene. If you are a safety, health or environmental professional or manager with industrial hygiene responsibilities but limited training or experience this course is for you! Part of the National Safety Council Advanced Safety Certificate.
  • June 28, Introduction to Occupational Safety; June 29, Introduction to Occupational Health; June 30, Introduction to Loss Control. Intended for those with part- or full-time safety and health responsibilities. Completion of all three results in the Minnesota Safety Council and Minnesota OSHA Basic Workplace Safety Certificate. Courses may also be taken individually.
