Unintentional injuries ("accidents") are the number one health risk to our children. They are the
primary cause of our elders being forced to leave their homes. They tear apart families and cut us
down in the prime of our lives. Hundreds of thousands are hurt and more than 1,700 Minnesotans are
killed every year by unintentional injuries—in their homes, in their vehicles, at work and at play. In addition to human suffering, the financial cost of these injuries is staggering—nearly $700 billion a year in the U.S.
Most of these injuries are predictable and preventable. Helping people prevent them is the sole
focus of the Minnesota Safety Council. Through education, training and hands-on skills building,
we work with individuals, organizations, families and communities to develop strategies, implement
programs and help people develop safe habits that last, quite literally, a lifetime.
You generous financial support is critical to the Minnesota Safety Council. Together, we can turn
dollars into programs that help:
- kids learn safer choices that can reduce their lifelong risk of injury.
- elders live long, health and independent lives.
- workers return home whole and injury-free each day.
- drivers learn crash-avoidance skills.
- families live full and injury-free lives.
The Minnesota Safety Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. Contributions are tax deductible.
